Single Pattern Contest

Norwescon 37: Elegance and Entropy | April 17-20, 2014

Simplicity New Look 6166Entropy? Elegance? Either (or both) will work with this men’s or women’s vest. This year’s Single Pattern Contest pattern is New Look 6166.

The Single Pattern Contest is an annual art competition at Norwescon. Entrants start with the year’s selected pattern and create a one-of-a-kind item using the pattern as the starting point. All convention members are eligible to compete. There is no entry fee. Official rules are below:

  1. One entry per person.
  2. You must have a Norwescon 37 membership to enter.
  3. All entries must be based on New Look 6166. Minor creative design changes are permitted — for example, alteration of lapels, number and placement of pockets, embellishments — as long as the overall silhouette is recognizable as being derived from this pattern.
  4. Materials, techniques, and embellishments are entirely up to you. Please do not use messy or perishable substances.
  5. Entries may be submitted for judging or not (non-competing entries are welcome).
  6. Awards will be handed out to entrants, and may be announced at the Masquerade half-time show on Saturday.
  7. Some display space will be available. Entrants are not required to display their entries.
  8. All entries will be photographed as part of the judging, and may be published online, in future publications, or used as part of a video presentation.
