Dances

After sitting in panels and attending more sedentary events during the day, come and get your blood flowing with our themed dances! We have a dance each night at Norwescon (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) and feature many different styles of music and a variety of DJs to get your groove on. Costumes are encouraged and fannish classics are always crowd-pleasers. Bring old friends and meet new people as you shake that!

Themes for our dances are:

  • Thursday (all-ages): Thor’s Day Night (with DJ Wüdi): We call it Thursday night, but we used to know it as Thor’s Day…and you can kick off your weekend of saving the world with a celebration worthy of Asgard itself! Join DJ Wüdi for an evening of tunes new and old for gods and mortals alike. Come dressed as your godlike representation or as your mortal alter-ego. Requests are not just welcome, but encouraged!
  • Friday (under-21): (with DJ Stratacaster): Are you banned from “adult only” spaces? Come to the Under 21 dance and get your groove on! Our fabulous DJ will be spinning the hits, so come and get down with us! All ages are welcome!
  • Friday (all-ages): Mayan Post-Apocalypse Toga Party (with DJ Dancin’ Dan): The Mayans predicted that civilization would end in 2012. It did. But mankind survived. Now we celebrate the rise of a new empire the only way we should. TO-GA! TO-GA! TO-GA! Your exalted Emperor & DJ, Gludius Maximus, and his muse-ical Empress Aspartyme welcome all citizens of New Rome to a retro dance party celebration. Time again to shake your sandals to the dance favorites of all-time.
  • Saturday (all-ages): Saturday Hoedown (with MC300Baud): Join us for the Saturday Night Hoedown! Dust off your boots and hats and join us for the best of rave, wave, goth, alternative, rock, and electronica (forget that old-timey business, this is a contemporary hoedown) while we dance the night away!

We've shut down the request form so that our DJs have time to go out and find everything you've sent in. Rest assured, you'll be able to give us requests at the dances as well!
