The Single Pattern Contest is an annual art competition at Norwescon. Entrants start with the year’s selected pattern and create a one-of-a-kind item using the pattern as the starting point. All convention members are eligible to compete. There is no entry fee.

This year’s pattern is Simplicity 1293, a shrug with hood or hat. The object of the competition is to create a one-of-a-kind garment from the pattern. Some adjustments or changes are allowed, as long as the end product reflects the original pattern. Judging will be based on:

  • Best of Show (workmanship)
  • Best Use of Convention Theme – Distant Horizons, Epic Adventures
  • Judges Favorite
  • Fan Favorite

No preregistration is required. Entries will be taken at the judging session.

  • Judging – Cascade 2 from noon-1pm on Saturday
  • Show and Share – Cascade 2 from 5pm-6pm on Saturday
    • The People’s Choice award will be decided at this session. All other winners will be announced at this time as well
