Norwescon had a good year this year. Thanks to the popularity of our GoHs, we drew in a large number of new members, while still keeping costs under control. We ended with a surplus, which goes into our reserves to be used for years when we run at a loss.

Fairwood Writers and Norwescon are proud to support EMP’s Write out of this World: Sci-Fi and Fantasy Short Story Contest. To kick off this year’s contest, Fairwood Writers is conducting a workshop to help students develop a story for the contest.

This past weekend was our final Norwescon 38 ConCom meeting, and we have some final updates on just how well this year went!

As announced just after the convention, our Guests of Honor for Norwescon 39 are Tanya Huff (Author), Janny Wurts (Artist), William K. Hartmann (Science), and DAW (Spotlight Publisher), represented by Sheila Gilbert and Betsy Wollheim.

We were quite happy to have several of this year’s Hugo nominees at Norwescon, and would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to them and to all the other nominees!

It was announced on Friday, April 3, at Norwescon 38, in SeaTac, Washington, that the winner for the distinguished original science fiction paperback published for the first time during 2014 in the U.S.A. is: THE BOOK OF THE UNNAMED MIDWIFE by Meg Elison (Sybaritic Press)
