Queer Eye for the Con…Goer Children's Masquerade Fannish Fetish Fashion Show 501st Photo Charity Event
Maxi's Lounge Banquet Scavenger Hunt

The Special Events schedule has been finalized and is here for your perusal. There are many, many things to choose from for your entertainment. The mainstays are still here- the dances all three nights, gaming, Lazer Tag, Fannish Fetish Fashion Show, midnight movies, poker tournament, Match Game, scavenger hunt and the Masquerade. In addition to these, we have a Zombie Invasion planned for Thursday, Friday afternoon Lazer Tag, 7 hours of the 501st Charity Photo Shoot, The Fannish Flea Market and, last but not least, Maxi’s Lounge!

For this Norwescon, the Doubletree hotel has graciously agreed to close down Maxi’s Lounge on the 14th floor to its regulars and open it up to Norwescon attendees exclusively. This is a fabulous turn of events for the con and gives us a super new space to use. Maxi’s Lounge will be open Friday (10:00pm-2:00am) and Saturday (9:00pm-2:00am) nights to all Norwescon attendees that are 21 and over with ID and Norwescon 33 badges. We can’t encourage you enough to go up there and have a drink or two. After 9:00pm on Friday and Saturday, the entire 14th floor is 21 years and older only. They have a nice appetizer menu available between 10:00PM and midnight. If we don’t support Maxi’s Lounge with our patronage, they will not open it up exclusively for our use next year, so don’t let us down! The space is big and comfortable with a dance floor and each night there is a different sponsor with entertainment planned. It is the newest event to attend this year. We look forward to seeing you up there, either hanging out with friends or bustin’ a groove.

Dances
Thursday Dance
Thursday 9:00pm-2:00am Grand 3
Join us for Tour of a House of Horrors as DJ Irah hosts a night of frights and delights. Watch out for zombies on the dance floor as they "thrill" us with their moves, dancing to music from back in the day up to today's hottest hits.

Friday Stardance
Friday 9:00pm-2:00am Grand 2/3
Come on down to Bartertown, that outpost of civilization on the edge of the apocalypse. Leave your weapons behind and be careful not to pick a fight or you might find yourself facing death in the Thunderdome! DJ's Girly Girl and Black Maru play music to accompany the end of the world as we know it.

Saturday Night Hoedown
Saturday 10:00pm-3:00am Grand 2/3 (Time approximate to when the masquerade ends)
Put on your best square dancing shoes and help put Norwescon to bed with mc300baud and his eclectic collection of tracks. Expect the unexpected as he spins rave, wave, goth, alternative, electronica and more late into the night and won't let up until the cows come home.

Babel
Saturday 6:00pm-8:00pm Presidential Suite
The USS Aurora, part of Region 5 of STARFLEET: the Star Trek International Fan Association, Inc. will be hosting a social for the various sci-fi clubs and fans of the greater Seattle area.

Like the Babel Conference in the original Star Trek television series, this social is a way to promote better relations and show support for one another's endeavors in making our community and world a better place to live in, keep kids (and teens) off the streets and out of trouble, as well as promote family bonding and community interaction through fun activities and shared interests.

We invite all club representatives and those interested in joining a club (or if you're only considering joining one) to come share this event with us in the Presidential Suite at the Sea-Tac Doubletree, on Saturday April 3rd from 6 to 8 pm. Refreshments and snacks will be provided, but you may bring your own to share if you wish.

Lazer Tag 2010
Thursday 8:00pm-11:00pm Evergreen 3/4
Friday 2:00pm-4:00pm Grand 2
Friday 7:00pm-11:00pm Evergreen 3/4
Saturday 7:00pm-11:00pm Evergreen 3/4

Lazer Tag is moving to the Evergreen rooms this year! More room for (barely) controlled mayhem! Our start time will now be 7:00 p.m.; and we'll end at 11:00 p.m. These changes will allow Lazer Tag to rock even more, stop all that constant airport interference, and allow for larger games due to the extra room. This allows for more consistent play and is better time slot for younger players.

We are desperately in need of set up (6:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m.) and tear down (11:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.) volunteers. To move into the larger rooms, we shortened our set up times; and filking is waiting to use the rooms as soon as we are finished tearing down. Please, volunteer to help get Lazer Tag started on time and torn down quickly or we will have to cut down play time. There is also a need for referees during game play. There will be swag for all helpers.

Our equipment is the Tiger(tm) Star Wars Naboo Lazer Tag system. The Tiger Lazer Tag system will work with our guns. Unfortunately the Team Ops will not. Yes, I know the system is over 10 years old. Okay then, I will bring in the Worlds of Wonder Lazer Tag. Yes, that's right, lets step back to 1986. Any Worlds of Wonder system is welcome including Survivor Shot. If you have any Tiger game or Worlds of Wonder equipment, bring it and play.

On Friday afternoon, Lazer Tag will have a special event from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Grand 2! That's right, afternoon Lazer Tag in addition to the evening arenas. Come to Grand 2 and play! This is due to your requests! Thank you and see you at Norwescon!

Send your email if you are interested in volunteering for Lazer Tag to specialevents at norwescon dot org

On October 26, 2009, a record-breaking 22,596 people worldwide participated in the 4th annual Thrill the World event, a simultaneous dance to Michael Jackson's “Thriller.” The steps, while true to the famous music video, are slightly different, and cover the entire 5 minute 58 second song. Anyone in reasonable shape can learn this dance! Its okay if you’re a little awkward – hey, you’re a zombie! Dress comfortably and wear shoes you can dance in. Two sessions are scheduled; you are welcome to attend both if you want, but we will teach the entire dance in each session. At the end of Thursday evening’s zombie walk, you may join in as we perform for the crowd at the dance!

For a head start on learning the dances, you can check out the excellent tutorial videos or the Seattle Thrillers’ performance
