Norwescon is proud to sponsor and host the 2004 Philip K. Dick Award Ceremony. The ceremony marks the 23nd year that the Philip K. Dick Award will be presented.

      2004 Philip K. Dick Award Nominees Announced

The judges of the 2004 Philip K. Dick Award and the Philadelphia SF Society are pleased to announce seven nominated works that comprise the final ballot for the award:

       THE COYOTE KINGS OF THE SPACE-AGE BACHELOR PAD by Minister Faust (Del Rey)
       STABLE STRATEGIES AND OTHERS by Eileen Gunn (Tachyon Publications)
       LIFE by Gwyneth Jones (Aqueduct Press)
       APOCALYPSE ARRAY by Lyda Morehouse (Roc)
       AIR by Geoff Ryman (St. Martin's Griffin)
       CITY OF PEARL by Karen Traviss (Eos)
       BANNER OF SOULS by Liz Williams (Bantam Spectra)

First prize and any special citations will be announced on Friday, March 25, 2004 at Norwescon 28 at the Doubletree Seattle Airport Hotel, SeaTac, Washington.

The Philip K. Dick Award is presented annually for distinguished science fiction published in paperback original form in the United States. The award is sponsored by the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society and the award ceremony is sponsored by the NorthWest Science Fiction Society. Last year’s winner was ALTERED CARBON by Richard K. Morgan (Del Rey) with a special citation to DANTE'S EQUATION by Jane Jensen (Del Rey). The 2004 judges are Arthur Byron Cover, Karin Lowachee, Syne Mitchell, James Van Pelt, and Sherryl Vint (chair).

Publishers who issue eligible titles during the calendar year 2005 are encouraged to provide copies to each of the judges as the books are published during the year. (All works of science fiction published originally in the US as paperbacks during the year 2005 are eligible.) The nominees will be announced in January, 2006. The Philip K. Dick Awards ceremony will be held in Seattle at Norwescon in March 2006.
