*Q&A and election for Norwescon 35 (chair, vice-chair, 2 GoH selection committee positions)
The election will conclude at the meeting. Then the ballots will be counted at the post-meeting social held at William and Sally’s house in Federal Way. Hopefully it won’t be pouring so we’ll be able to be outside, please dress for the weather. The social starts at 5ish and will feature a taco bar, please bring your own tortillas if their common ingredients are an issue for you. Contact SunnyJim if you wish to contribute food.
Directions to the social will be available at the meeting. Thank you.
]]>Here’s a roundup of the photos, videos, and comments that we’ve found so far. Have more to contribute, or links that we should know about? Leave a comment and let us know!
The Norwescon 34 Group on Flickr has been collecting a bunch of photos in the days following the convention. We’re almost up to 1,000 shots, all contributed by you wonderful congoers, and we’re always looking forward to seeing more!
We’ve also been trying to track photos that we find in other places around the ‘net. Here’s what we’ve dug up so far (that we can link to — we know of some other Facebook albums, but they’re not publicly accessible):
The official Norwescon Flickr account will start to post photos soon — it just takes a little time to sort through everything that our photographic team took over the course of the weekend!
The Norwescon YouTube channel has posted a selection of videos from Norwescon 34.
We have also archived our ustream broadcast of the Philip K. Dick Award Ceremony.
ITVNW has posted two interviews with author Jean Johnson as part of their Multiversal News show: interview one and interview two.
And here’s a few other goodies we’ve found on YouTube so far:
Lots and lots of blog posts! Let’s see what we dug up (listed roughly in order of when we found them)….
And that’s everything we know of as of the time of this post. Know of more, or something we missed? Leave a comment!
]]>If you witnessed or know anything about the accident, please contact Detective Steven P. Hager directly at 206.510.1549 regarding case #11-086110.

]]>Welcome to the Twelfth Annual Fandance Film Festival, hosted at Norwescon 34! Twelve years of madness, filmmaking, and of seeing all the latest, greatest, funniest, weirdest, and most bleeding, squealing, giant smashing roboting edge entertainment still available without extensive tipping (mind you, we’re not saying no). The festival is a celebration of low- and no-budget cinema, brought to wondrous lurching life by amateur filmmakers from all around the Pacific Northwest.
More than just movies, this 120-minute extravaganza of entertainment will also include the filmmakers, who will regale you with terrifying tales of their productions. Be there, or be a regular right quadrilateral!
The Fandance Film Festival marks the final phase of the “Let’s Make a Movie!” workshop. The workshop walks participants through every step of making a movie, from conception to the premiere of the finished product at Fandance! This year at Norwescon also marks the twelve-year anniversary of “Let’s Make a Movie!”
For more information please visit the Fandance Film Festival page.
This panel is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2011, in Evergreen 3 and 4. A membership is required to attend.
]]>We want to thank Heather Dale for coming all the way out from Ontario for us, and Electric Children and Andrew Ross for volunteering to play on Thursday. Plus we have some of your favourites back again, like last year’s Norwescon newcomer, Death*Star, and local filk monsters Vixy & Tony. Check it:
Thursday night: (Experimental Night!)
Friday night:
Saturday night:
Check the nwcMUSIC page for sample tracks from many of these artists!
]]>We’ve also just added the official Pocket Program (1.4MB .pdf), and the programming errata list (106KB .pdf) that can also be found in your registration swag bag.
We’ve updated our gaming schedule for the scheduled gaming rooms. Lots of fun RPG, dice, card, and miniature games (and more!) for you to play, all weekend long.
And finally, Norwescon Music Programming regrets to announce that Pondside has had to withdraw from Norwescon programming due to unexpected logistics issues beyond their or our control. Pondside’s show was scheduled for Friday, 7pm, and Juliana has had to withdraw from all panels. Don’t worry; there are no health or similar issues involved; it really is just an unfortunate confluence of logistics.
Relatedly, Norwescon Music Programming is pleased to announce that Annie Henry has agreed to perform at Norwescon on Friday, at 7pm, filling in for Pondside! Annie Henry performs, as her website puts it, “Irish trad with a twist,” and can be found at sessions and on stages up and down the Cascadian corridor. Please welcome her to Norwescon’s stages for the very first time!
Thanks for your understanding as we make these last-minute adjustments!
]]>There will also be a Kid’s Zine printed on Saturday. Submissions accepted by 10pm on Friday in all the same places for anything you want our younger fans to know.
