After a weekend packed together volunteering and jammend together you can really bond for life. And I did. I spent the next 20 years volunteering for the convention and enjoying every minute.
I did spend time “bodyguarding” Stephen King and he was very creative in his approach to his fans. If someone came up and said “I love your writing!” he would respond with a “Why?” and a long, cold stare. Interesting man. That is why I prefer working away from the big name people. Too colorful for me. Give me regular fans, any day.
