Announcing the Pattern for the Norwescon 46 Single Pattern Contest

The patterns for the Single Pattern Contest are Simplicity 4795 and Simplicity 4797, the child-sized version of the same pattern, by Andrea Schewe. They are very simple “nativity” costumes, but could be creatively made into many other things, including fairies, Elves, and other denizens of the Wylde. The only required piece is one of the four tunic variations, and as many or as few of the over-robes and accessory pieces as the contestant desires.

Simplicity pattern 4795: Misses', Men's, and Teen's Nativity costumes includes tunics, vest, coat, veil, shawl, headcover, belt, crown and wings.Simplicity pattern 4797: Boy's and Girl's nativity costumes includes tunics, vest, coat, shawl, veil, head cover, belt, crown, and wings.

Peek Into Norwescon’s History

With 45 years of history, Norwescon has created a lot of material. Flyers, progress reports, pocket programs, program books—and that’s just getting started. Several years ago, we started to collect images of these artifacts in our online historical archive, and the collection keeps growing. If you haven’t looked at the archives lately, you’re invited to dive in!

While we have much, there is a lot more that could be added. If you have material from Norwescon’s history—badges, flyers, photos, NWSFS Westwind clubzine issues, or any other artifacts—we want them! Email our website admin, Michael Hanscom (michael@norwescon.org) with scans, photos, or text, or let him know you have hard copy you’d like to send in. We will make sure all contributors are credited.
